New York time explained

New York keeps Eastern Time, moving to Eastern Daylight Time on the second Sunday in March and back on the first Sunday in November. The Eastern zone covers roughly half the population of the United States, which is why so much American scheduling is quoted in ET without further explanation.

New York does observe daylight saving, so its offset from UTC changes twice a year. The time above already accounts for whichever is currently in force.
